New Painting

I just completed a new transparent watercolor painting, called Trastevere. It’s based on a photo I took last spring, when I was lucky enough to visit my daughter, studying abroad in Italy. Trastevere is the name of a neighborhood in Rome, known for it’s brightly colored buildings, cafes, pubs, and artisan shops. The building was built in 1927, and survived the bombs of the Allies during WWII, when Rome was liberated in 1944. This faded beauty is a testament to the amazing architecture you can find throughout Italy.

Color Burst

My latest watercolor painting, Color Burst, is finally finished. I started this watercolor painting back in June, and worked on it on and off the entire summer. (Living in the Northeast, once the weather changes to summer, I want to be outside all the time! It’s a big distraction.) I photographed the painting’s progress throughout the summer, and you can click on the slide show below to view the work in progress.
