I’ve taken a break from painting the last couple weeks to work on some other things. Starting with refinishing my painting table! The table belonged to my grandmother. I was told that when my grandparents got married, they bought their dinning room set, one piece at a time, as they could afford it. Countless holidays and card games were played on it for so many years! I used it myself for many years, bringing it out into my living room for large family holidays. Since moving a few years ago, it has become the painting table in my studio that I use every day. I’ve wanted to refinish it for years and this summer it finally happened! It turned out so beautiful, I almost hate to use it.
After the table was finished, I began the process of drawing and prepping for my next two paintings and they’re all set and ready to go. It takes several days to set up a still life, sort through tons of photos, sketch out a design, and transfer it to a sheet of watercolor paper. Can’t wait to start painting!
I’ve also been very busy prepping for several upcoming shows this autumn. More info to come!
