This watercolor painting is entitled End of the Road. It’s based on a photograph I took along the coast of Monterey in California, while vacationing there this past summer. The Monterey Cypress is well known for its unique shape bent by the Pacific Ocean winds. At the time I took the photograph, it was quite foggy and the ocean was not visible, silhouetting the Cypress tree at the edge of the road.

I got a sneak peak at the 42nd Annual International Exhibition of Watercolors yesterday and the paintings are amazing! I’m so honored to have been accepted into this show. The opening will be this Sunday, October 14th, from 2-4 pm at the Gallery at Kent Art Association, 21 South Main Street, Kent, CT. The Kent Gallery will be open Thursdays – Sundays (12-4 pm), through October 28th.
Thank you to all the wonderful people that attended my opening yesterday, especially those that traveled a long way to attend. The opening was a great success! My thanks to Jan, Daphne, the Widlund Gallery committee and the artists’ community of North Creek. You guys were great. One last painting for my October show… Entitled Along the Battenkill, this watercolor painting is based on a photograph I took while kayaking down the quick-moving Battenkill River. The Joe Pye Weed along the banks made a pretty scene, even on such a cloudy day of kayaking. For this small painting, I used a #1 and #00 brush to create thousands of little dots for my shrubbery and trees.

I just learned that my painting, Winter Woods, has been accepted into the 42nd Annual International Exhibition of Watercolors at the Kent Gallery, in Connecticut. This exhibition of 100+ watercolor artists will be on display throughout the month of October.

I will be having another solo show in October at the Widlund Gallery, in North Creek, NY. This show will be even larger, with about 40 of my watercolor paintings on display. The opening reception will be on October 5th, from 5-7 pm.
Beginning today, I have 30 watercolor paintings on display at the Brookside Museum Gallery. The Brookside Museum is located at 6 Charlton Street, in Ballston Spa, NY. An art opening will be held this Friday (August 3rd) from 6 – 8 pm, as part of Ballston Spa’s “First Friday” events. Regular hours for the Brookside Museum are Wednesday – Friday, 10 am – 4 pm, and Saturday, 12 pm – 4 pm. The show will run through the end of August.
Yesterday was the opening for the 2018 Pruyn House Juried Art Show. I’m super pleased to announce I was awarded Best of Show for my watercolor painting Winter Woods. The Pruyn House hosts a wonderful art exhibit each year, with 55 local artists chosen to show this year. Located at 207 Old Niskayuna Road, Latham, NY, the show will run though May 7th.
I’m calling this watercolor painting Garden Wall. I based the painting on a photograph I took last spring, in the Vanderbilt Mansion’s gardens, in Hyde Park, NY. It was a challenging piece and I had to start over twice, in order to achieve what I wanted from it.
